Although it is one of the most important tourist places in Egypt, many Egyptians, especially the youth group, do not know when the Cairo Tower was built or the cost of its construction, which is what we observe in the following lines.


The story of building the Cairo Tower

The Cairo Tower was built during the era of President Gamal Abdel Nasser at a cost of 6 million Egyptian pounds. At the time, the United States had given it to Egypt with the aim of influencing its position in support of the Algerian cause against the French occupation.




About this, military historian Gamal Hammad says: When the tower was built, it had two names. The Americans called it “Fork of Abdel Nasser,” while the Egyptians called it “The Roosevelt Endowment,” as evidence of Egypt’s steadfastness against the United States and its adherence to relations with Algeria. It was not the tallest tower. In the world at that time but comes after the Eiffel Tower.
